Welcome to Shark Bytes, where I will post information, news, links, photos, and commentary about sharks, emphasizing the incredible (and widely misunderstood) Great White shark. Ever since I was old enough to stay up and watch the primetime National Geographic specials about Earth's oceans, I have been mesmorized by the mysterious, beautiful underwater world that is home to so many different species of sharks. When I was eight, I watched Jaws on VHS one afternoon with my best friend. I was immediately hooked on the thrilling concept of a fish big enough to eat you just swimming around, ruling the ocean. I love sharks and I wish I could do more to protect them. But for now, I will at least try to inspire respect and concern for them.

ReplyDeleteSharks scare me! When I was in 5th grade we had to do a project on fish in the water and I chose the dogfish. Who would have known that something as small as a dogfish was a type of shark! Then I watched Jaws and I have never been the same. Not to mention I now live in Hawaii where the shark bites are increasing! They say it is due to the fishers using warm water to attract the fish closer to land and with that the sharks follow. I just wish the sharks would get glasses and realize they are munching on humans, not fish! Love your background.
